T his project originated before the V&A Waterfront and served as an inspiration for it. The abandoned factory complex was vended as a demolition site, but visionary developer Menno Brouwer saw its potential and within two years this exciting and varied precinct rose from the ruins to become one of Cape Town’s forerunners in recycling and gentrification. We started with a pile of bricks, pipes and concrete, and simply kept adding more of the same, with a bit of colour.
